Text Messaging is proved to improve the skills of spelling among children

This might be a surprising development to most of you, regarding how the children of today make use of “Text Language” abbreviating words such as great, to “Gr8” or chat later to “cht l8tr” which basically according to logic, decrease spelling rather than increasing it.

But after a study was done on 114 children (age 9 to 10) from Primary schools in the Midlands it showed clear evidence of a significant contribution of texting use to the children’s spelling development during the study.

Results that led scientist to this evidence where based on the number of test performed in which these children where split up into 2 groups, and then studied carefully after being given mobile phones to work on for a period of 10 Weeks.

The results showed that higher results in test scores where accumulated after 10 weeks than in the beginning by all the children participating in this study. It also showed that by texting it helped the pupils to successfully decode words and therefore increasing the spelling.
